The NABC Foundation Court of Honor Gala Experience is a fundraising effort that supports the National Association of Basketball Coaches Foundation, Inc. The inaugural Court of Honor Gala Experience will take place April 14, 2009, at Union Station Chicago. Court of Honor Gala Experience recognizes a prominent figure of business or education with roots in college basketball and has had a positive impact on the game of basketball.

The first recipient of this award is Jerry Colangelo, Chairman of the NBA Phoenix Suns, Managing Director of USA Basketball 2006-2008 Men’s Senior National Team and recently elected Chair of USA Basketball Board of Directors for the 2009-2012 term. Colangelo was instrumental in assembling the 2008 Men’s Basketball Olympic team, which won the gold medal in China.

The NABC Foundation is excited to have the city of Chicago embrace the Court of Honor Gala Experience and is honored to have the following people as Co-Chairs:

Both the NABC Board of Directors and the NABC Foundation Board of Directors voted unanimously in November to adopt a resolution supporting Chicago 2016 in its bid to bring the 2016 Olympic Games to the great city of Chicago and the United States of America. Click here to read the resolution.

The National Association of Basketball Coaches Foundation, Inc. was organized and operates exclusively for charitable and educational purposes, including supporting and carrying out the charitable and education purposes of the National Association of Basketball Coaches, Inc. The NABC Foundation is the founder and chief sponsor of Ticket to Reading Rewards, a national literacy program targeting middle school aged youth. In addition, the Foundation operates the College Basketball Experience (CBE), an experiential facility which also includes the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame.
