Boise State's Karl And Winthrop's Martin Lift NABC National All-Stars Past American All-Stars
March 30, 2007
Atlanta, Ga. (March 30, 2007) - Coby Karl of Boise State scored 22 points and Torrell Martin added 19 as the National All-Star Team tipped the American All-Star team, 128-100, in the 2007 DiGiorno NABC All-Star Game at Philips Arena Friday night. The game was held in conjunction with the National Association of Basketball Coaches Convention and the NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four. The two teams consisted of seniors from NCAA Division I institutions who had finished their playing careers, giving them an opportunity to play in front of NBA scouts and their coaches one last time. The National Team, which shot 56 percent from the floor, had eight players in double-digit scoring. Bobby Brown of Cal State Fullerton scored 18 points while Rashad Jones-Jennings of Arkansas-Little Rock had the lone double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Martin's performance was recognized as he was named the National Team Most Valuable Player. Xavier's Justin Doellman, named the Most Valuable Player for the American Team, led Coach Jim Larranaga's team with 20 points. Doellman had almost a perfect game, going 7-of-8 from the floor, 2-of-2 from the three-point range and 4-of-4 from the charity stripe. Clemson's Vernon Hamilton had 13 points and Jamaal Tatum of Southern Illinois added 10 points.
