NCAA Reaches Settlement in Federal Antitrust Lawsuit

Jan. 30, 2008

The NCAA has reached a settlement with plaintiffs in a federal antitrust lawsuit in which plaintiffs argued that caps on student-athlete grants-in-aid to tuition, room and board and books amounted to a restriction of trade.

The U.S. District Court in Los Angeles must approve the settlement, whichwould benefit current and former student-athletes through a restructuring of assistance funds that were originally designated for the Special Assistance Fund and the Academic Enhancement Fund.
