UAH Head Coach Lennie Acuff Elected to NABC Board of Directors
July 26, 2010 KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- - Lennie Acuff, head men's basketball coach at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH), has been elected to the board of directors of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). Acuff, who has coached at UAH for the last 13 seasons, replaces Dale Clayton, the former head coach at Carson-Newman College and the NABC president in 2009-10. He joins Larry Gipson, head coach at Northeastern State (Okla.) University and the NABC's second vice president, representing NCAA Division II on the board of directors. "I am very pleased to join the NABC board of directors, especially following Dale Clayton," said Acuff. "Dale has been a terrific coach but beyond that, he is an outstanding person." Acuff has a 13-year record of 225-141. His Chargers have won at least a share of three Gulf South Conference Eastern Division championships (2000, 2003 and 2010) and earned four trips to the NCAA Division II tournament (2000, 2003, 2006, 2010). This past season, Acuff's Chargers had a 23-7 won-lost record and lost a 59-57 decision to Rollins College in the NCAA Division II South Regional. About the National Association of Basketball Coaches
