Three Important Elements of Basketball
1. Conditioning.
2. Fundamentals.
3. Team Play.

Wittenberg Basketball Philosophy
1. We believe in the team concept.
2. One on one play is the heart of offensive basketball especially one on one post play.
3. One on one post play is the heart of our Wittenberg Offense. We believe that in this way we get the best shots and can capitalize on free throws.
4. Outside players must shoot with their feet together.

Physical Development of the Offensive Post
We believe that strength is as important as size for the offensive post men.
1. Hand Strength--we do many fingertip push-ups we emphasized hand strength with our ball handling drills.
2. Off-Season Weight Training--we do bulk weight training during the off-season, using maximum weight.
3. In-Season Weight Training--we lift 2-3 times a week using 1/2 of maximum weight for 15 to 20 repetitions.
4. Balance & Base--we do a lot of jumping & karate kicking to develop balance. We do rim touching everyday. Up, down and back up for 5-10 repetitions or for a time limit. We do rope jumping drills. These drills are available to the public on request. We do three karate kicks which we think has added to our flexibility and balance the "snap kick", the "side kick" and the "head kick." We had these kicks taught to us, the players, initially by a karate instructor.
