GENERAL RULES:
1. The players are numbered clockwise.
2. The defense is predicated on the intelligent double-team and blocked passing lanes.
3. The players must be conditioned to watch the passer and react quickly.
4. The dribbler should be forced right or left to the toughest defensive man.
5. The double-team is made from side to side very quickly but under control.

POSITION RULES:
1. X1 generally forces the ball to the offensive weakness or the toughest defensive player.
2. X2 and X4 double-team with X1 or X3. However, X3 should always remain aware of his baseline responsibility. On the strong side, double-team in the front and the corner. Block the passing lane in and out. On the weak side, stay between the ball and a line to the corner.
3. X5 stays between the ball and the basket. He may switch off to the corner for X3 or against a quick pass to the weakside.
4. X3 must anticipate, protect the basket, and double-team in either corner. If X5 goes to the corner X3 assumes his position.
