If the fastbreak is going to be an integral part of your offensive scheme, I feel there are several things that are paramount to the success of your break:
1. You must develop a philosophy.
2. You must have a strong belief in this style.
3. You must sell this philosophy and belief to your players.
4. You must make a commitment to teaching the break thoroughly.

We at Radford University believe in the fastbreak as a lethal offensive weapon and have made a commitment to it because it gives us several advantages:
1. Allows us to score some easy baskets.
2. It encourages an attack mode defensively as well as offensively.
3. It is fun and exciting for our players, coaches, and fans.

We have made a commitment to fastbreak basketball with the understanding that there are a couple of disadvantages:
1. This style will result in turnovers.
2. Our coaching staff will have less control over who shoots the ball.

There are many different ways to use the fastbreak in the game of basketball. The extent of your usage is limited only by your level of commitment.
